Beyoncé recently did a photo shoot for Paris magazine L’Officel where she embodied Fela Kuti, Nigerian musician and human activist. The Broadway hit Fela which is produced by Beyoncé husband Jay-Z and Will Smith is inspired by the life of Fela Kuti. So there is no mistaking why Beyoncé was chosen for such an honored task.

There has been much controversy behind the shoot because Beyoncé’s blackface which many critics have taken in offense. I respect the feelings of everyone however personally I feel we search for the negative in everything rather than focus on the positive. Beyoncé looks beautiful dressed in traditional African clothing. The photoshoot was reminiscent of a African Queen and looking at the photoshoot Beyoncé looked regal. I would like to hear everyone’s opinions on the shoot… It is creating such a buzz in the industry!!!
