In Memory Of… Love, Peace and Soul

2 Feb

Yesterday was the first day of Black history month and we began it with mourning a legend of soul….  Don Cornelius…. On February 1, 2012 Mr. Cornelius died by a self-inflicted gun shot wound, he was 75 years old.

Don Cornelius will forever be known for his contributions to Soul. In 1971 Soul Train broadcasted on television giving viewers a look and feel for soul music and the rhythm of dance. Through Soul Train Mr. Cornelius was able to showcase talent and promote musical icons such as Micheal Jackson, Gladys’ Knight, Elton John and Marvin Gaye to name a few. He was also able to use Soul Train to break racial lines and brought generations together by the power of music and dance. Don Cornelius will be missed and his legacy will continue to live on…..
