Hershey’s Fun Food Fact Finds…

Did you know that…

Blueberries fight the bacteria that causes diarrhea.

Most of the nutrients in a potato reside just below the skin layer.

An avocado has more than twice as much potassium as a banana.

Bananas are a natural antacid. They soothe heartburn or gastric distress.

Cranberry juice is good for urinary tract infections. Why? Because the juice inhibits a type of bacteria that clings to the wall of the bladder and causes infection.

Ginger root fights nausea caused by motion sickness and relieves migraine headaches. Make a tea of fresh ginger root by simmering it in water for ten minutes.

After oil, coffee is the world’s second-most-valuable commodity exported by developing countries. The global coffee industry earns an estimated $60 billion annually.

Worcestershire sauce is made from dissolved fish. – The world renown English sauce is made with liquefied anchovies. The anchovies are soaked in vinegar until they are totally melted down. This includes the bones and all!

Cilantro is a member of the carrot family and Cilantro may be useful to treat urinary tract infections. Both the leaves and seeds aid digestion, relieve intestinal gas, pain and distention. They also treat nausea, soothe inflammation, rheumatic pain, headaches, coughs and mental stress.

Coconut water can be used (in emergencies) as a substitute for blood plasma. The reason for this is that coconut water (the water found in coconuts-not to be confused with coconut milk, which comes from the flesh of the coconut) is sterile and has an ideal pH level. Coconut water is liquid endosperm- it surrounds the embryo and provides nutrition.

Does anything here surprise you?  I didn’t make the facts; I’m just passing them along. I hope you had as much fun reading them as I did.

Mmm take a bite out of that!

Hi Coco, I looove to share, that’s just what I do. 🙂 Weird enough I know about the coconut thing because I saw it on one of those fictional medical television series. But some of the things really surprised me. Like I never knew about Worcestershire sauce. That was news to me! Learning is fundamental. LOL
