News Alert: Counterfeit Goods

27 Apr

Do you know that you could possibly get  fined for $1,000, or spend up to 1 year in jail for rocking counterfeit goods? Well, please believe it people!!! This bill will be on knockoff watches and yes handbags!!!

A city lawmaker by the name of Margaret Chin posed this bill to basically criminalize the buying of knock off items. In the designers defense, for many years they have been working hard to make master pieces. To see replicas being  sold at minimal prices has tarnished their image and products.  They too have been fighting against counterfeit goods, and I would not be surprised if a lot of designers are behind this bill. On the other hand, many consumers love these items but can not afford them. So counterfeits might be there best option.

Please take the poll below and let me know what you think!

* I know one thing’s for sure….there is going to be some angry people if this bill is passed. I’m just saying…..

I get where they are coming from, but they should not penalize the consumers. I really believe that they should penalize retailers. They allow them to sell it openly on the street and nothing will happen to them? Thats just stupid.

I know what you mean! I think that the customers should not be penalized for this. The people who are selling the knock offs should. I’m just sayin….

I saw this on the news last night. They said you could even be arrested if your caught in the act of purchasing couterfeit goods. Just crazy! I mean to each his own, not everyone can afford the real thing so they do what they can to feel good. Its not like the consumers are the ones on the back of the truck! LOL! Why would they be the ones in trouble? Makes no sense. Thanks Trishie!

I know its makes no sense. Should the designers come down on there prices, especially during these economic hard times? That way they can please the consumers and still get a profit.
